Spring 2019 Update

Hello gamefans! Getting straight to the point: yes the lack of updates has been criminal at best. Thank you to everyone who has reached out through various methods. Know that I appreciate it, and my shame at falling so behind is astronomical.

The explanation is simple: this year at work has been insane, but rewarding. I got selected as department chair at the start of the year (quite a feat for a neonate teacher) and the resulting meetings and paperwork have been overwhelming, on top of teaching a lot of new material and trying to get a new AP science course off the ground for the coming year. Overall, though, while my writing has fallen behind, I am pleased at the new skills I have been developing to further my IRL career.

And I’m not gonna lie, years of playing vampire-politics has helped me in no small way as well. 😉

As for where the game currently stands in real-time, believe it or not we are actually approaching its end. It’s been delayed somewhat due to work stresses on everyone’s part; over the past season we’ve only been meeting on average about once a month. But it’s still alive and we are looking forward to a final conclusion to all the story arcs we’ve had so far.

For the writeups, well, I did pull a dick-move by leaving everyone hanging at the height of the action, so my goal is by the start of my summer break get out the posts which conclude the current chapter of action, then see about condensing the next major threads to speed the process along as best I can. It’s gonna be hard, though, since over the last year we’ve had a couple technical mistakes and lost at least two full recordings, so some of it will have to be pieced together based on notes, memory, and hope.

Thank you everyone who continues to go on this journey with us!

PS Edit: Also, for those who are Patreon-supporters, in case you didn’t notice, note that I turned off monthly-support payments last fall so you won’t be charged again until I post an actual post of content.

Oh, sh*t, this was unexpected! Glad to hear from you again! Looking forward to your next update, but warn with enough time for me to reread the backlog. I’ll need to remember everything xD

  3. Raf says:

It’s perfectly understandable, I’m happy to hear the good news from your life away from the keyboard!

And I’m double happy that you still intend on posting 😀

  4. some San Jose Sabbat says:

I’ve been reading this blog since early 2018 and finally decided to comment, glad to hear you’re doing well, and even happier to hear you’re gonna keep posting here!

As a lifelong bay area native, and vampire fan ever since I played bloodlines, this blog is everything I never knew I wanted.

Also, what do you and the group think of V5, if you’ve looked into it at all?

Still hopeful for the story’s eventual return! In the meantime, happy 2020 Colleen!

Hey fam! ❤ Urg, it's not looking good for updates anytime soon Dx Lifes been busy and weird, in bad and good ways. One of the good ways is that Chris and Kara got married last summer and had a baby last fall! 🙂 The story is still in my heart of hearts, though, so I have not entirely given up yet.

Thank you for reaching out, hope you are well as well! ❤

      • Morienne Montenegro says:

we should at least get a spring 2020 update 😀

      • Corvidae says:

That would be the tradition, yes, though if you hadn’t noticed the world…ah…has been a bit busy this year ;D

Been a lot of changes in my life lately, I’ll see what I can do. Hope you are well! As I say to my students WASHYOURHANDS!!!!

  7. Morienne Montenegro says:

leaving this here just for the memes.
I still have my fingers crossed for a huge Christmas post ^^

  8. Seth says:

I’m basically not on the book of faces anymore, but still love you and all the craziness! This isn’t even a poke to post anything, just wishing you health and better things this year!

And so you know, I still think about “Tom… what did you do?” at least once a week.

  9. Scout Sivar says:

Hey, very long-time fan here. Just well-wishing, since I’ve never commented before. I know how things go on this old internet – we are unfortunately not entitled to receive free things from the awesome people expending mountains of effort to make very cool stuff, so I’m just happy to have what we do. Hope you’re still having fun roleplaying, and hope everything else is lovely besides. Your blog is what got me into V:tM in the first place, and I’ve been running and recording my own campaign set in Detroit for some years now – so far featuring cameos by Tom, Anstis, Marcus, and Georgia(Who’s my Sheriff!). 😉

    • Corvidae says:

Hey! Thanks so much for dropping a note ^_^ I was literally just saying this afternoon that I feel so much shame I petered off in the writing, but teaching just gradually took so much out of me, and not gonna lie this past year has been pretty hard on top of it all >.< Luckily the game did formally end before covid brought everything down, but it was kind of a stumble to the finish line.

OMG, Georgia-as-Sherriff must be simultaneously hilarious and horrifying for everyone involved xD So glad you have had fun with our characters too! I will pass the news along to the crew!

      • Scout Sivar says:

Aw, I’m real glad that you guys like that your characters are being used elsewhere. Tom and Marcus are a cool duo for me to have show up and ruin everything, and Anstis is just a lot of goofy spooky pirate fun. All my players are simultaneously in love with and terrified of Georgia, yes. XD It’s nice to play with something inspirational, I’m otherwise not a very “fangirl” type of person.

It’s rough for something you seem to be really enthusiastic about to slip out of reach, but you definitely shouldn’t feel ashamed. Writing really is a lot of work, mentally and in terms of time. On top of producing the raw material, too, which is a lot of time and effort in itself! You’ll come back to it, or move on to something else cool, I’m sure. 🙂

I occaisonally still listen to the audio you’ve posted, a lot of it’s really fantastic. I miss your and Jason’s movie reviews, too. I told all my players to watch Let the Right One In, What We Do in the Shadows, and Only Lovers Left Alive before we started playing, and it really helped them get the mood. 😛

  10. ely says:

I come from the world of fanfic, so I’m very use to reading “incomplete” works. I’m only at 7/10/14, so I still got plenty to go, but I just wanted to say that I’m loving this. I wish there were more longform VTM stories — and I’m glad you guys got to finish before COVID. Hope life’s going well for all of you.

  11. MorienneMontenegro says:

2022, and I still hope for an update 😀
